Skookum Jim Friendship Centre
Traditional Fine Foods

Skookum Jim Friendship Centre will be hosting a booth at the Wildwood Music Festival. We will be sharing the art of traditional food preparation and the benefits of eating traditional foods.

We will be featuring a traditional meat drying rack along with various berries that are harvested during the summer months. First Nation people have long used this method of preserving food that was harvested.

The dried meat was sometimes mixed with animal fat, or dried berries were added and it was preserved that way for future use.

Today people enjoy dried meat soup or eating dry meat with butter. Dried meat is still a favourite amongst First Nations!
