Annie Lake Golf Course

Par 66, 4098 yards. Front 9 par 33, 2162 yards, back 9 par33, 1936 yards. Lost ball on the fairway, no penalty (gopher holes).
Annie Lake Golf Course, Yukon's first golf course, is located 30 miles south of Whitehorse at km 3 on Annie Lake Road. Built as a 9 hole course by U.S. Army personnel during the Second World War, it has been a favorite golf venue for over sixty years.
In 1949 the rights to the land were relinquished by local cattle grazer, Steve Veerman and the club was incorporated as the Whitehorse Golf and Country Club. In the mid 1950's, Sunday work parties were organized to clear fairways, cut survey lines and fill gopher holes. Transportation was provided from downtown to the golf course and mid-day picnics were the highlight of the day. The first tournament was held on Sunday July 10, 1955.
In the 1970's, the club was renamed Annie Lake Golf and Country Club. More trees were cleared to add another 9 holes and several of the original holes were redesigned. By 1980 membership was up to 130 and the club offerred workshops and instruction clinics to players.
Annie Lake Golf and Country Club was the main location for golf activities in the Yukon until Mountainview Golf Course opened in Whitehorse in 1987.
