Carbon Hill
Dogsled Race

Now in its 14th year, the Carbon Hill Sled Dog Race has become widely known as a fun and friendly community event based out of the Mount Lorne Community Centre on the Annie Lake Road.

Mushers can compete in the 30 mile, six to eight dog race which winds through the spectacular scenery of the Watson River Valley, or the shorter 10 mile, four to six dog race.

These races have developed a reputation for being excellent starter races for young mushers or recreational mushers, yet they also attract well-known professional racers who compete for a share of the purse.

This is the second year for the 30 mile, two to four dog skijor class which follows the same route as the 30 mile dogsled race. We hope a 6 mile, one to two dog skijor class will attract a large field of competitors. All pets welcome !!

And for aspiring young mushers, a 2 mile, two to three dog class and 200 meter, one dog class allow everyone to join in the fun.

The mix of young and old, amateur and professional makes this a very special event.

An army of community volunteers helps to put the race on every year. An awards potluck dinner is shared by competitors, volunteers and spectators.
